Armenia has a long history of astronomical study dating back few millenniums and the observatory had a key part bringing it into the land of modern science and study. Byurakan is an astronomical observatory located in Byurakan village, on the scenic hill of Mount Aragats. It was founded and managed in 1946 by the world-famous scientist, the National Hero of RA. Scientist Victor Hambardzumyan. The Complex of the Observatory is a one of a kind ensemble built with the local red tuf and the curved roofs of silvery observation towers stand out against the hilly landscape. Besides the scientific research, the observatory realizes an informative activity as well organizing excursions and lectures for everyone who wants to know more about astronomy.
