This tour will take you to the North of Armenia, where you will be surrounded by Dilijan beautiful nature. In Dilijan, you will visit the local geological museum and gallery, where there are about 1017 archaeological items, graphic works, paintings, sculptures, silver items, including coins, 39 items of ancient literature. The department of archaeology, which has been discovered in the surroundings of Dilijan and belongs to late bronze and early Iron Age, is of particular interest. The gallery is rich with works of Armenian, Russian and foreign artists, including Hovhannes Aivazovsky, Vardges Surenyants, Gevorg Bashinjaghyan, Martiros Saryan, Rockueel Kenty, Edgar Shahin, and Richard Geranean.
After exploring the city of Dilijan, we will make a stop at the monastery of Haghartsin, dating back to the 10th -14th centuries. The name is translated as “the play of the eagle”. The scenery is somewhat similar to a stunning work of art, with both the monastery and the nature surrounding it providing a breathtaking view. It is one of those spots in Armenia that feels like a breathtaking unreal movie set. Upon visiting the church, HH Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, donated over $5,000,000 for its renovation. The refectory of Haghartsin is considered the biggest amongst Armenian Church architecture; it was an absolute innovation of its time! If you are curious as to why, there will be nothing better than seeing it for yourself!
The next stop is Lake Sevan, as a blue gem of the Armenian mountain escape. Whilst staying in Armenia, you simply cannot miss the opportunity of visiting the beautiful lake Sevan which is situated at the height of 1900m above sea level and surrounded by a vast chain of mountains.
Lunch will be served at one of the local restaurants, where you can taste delicious fresh fish caught from Lake Sevan. Here you will understand why Armenians are willing to drive for one hour just to have a taste of Sevan fish for dinner.
This special experience promises you a trip to the gorge of flowers, the city of Tsaghkadzor – a small Olympic town not far from Yerevan, approximately an hour’s drive away. It is also known as the Armenian Switzerland, as it is surrounded by dense mountain forests.
This destination is referred to as “the gorge of flowers” since it is blooming with an array of gorgeous plants. As the legend holds, these flowers were torn from the princess’ garden and scattered over the land by the wind. It is also home to the 11th century monastic complex of Kecharis, specially built by the royals to honor the 1000th anniversary of Jesus Christ.
According to tradition the fortress and flowerbed with most of the beautiful flowers were built by the order of Princess Pahlavuni. As the legend holds, once the flowers were torn from the princess’ garden and scattered over the land by the strong wind. That is why this destination is referred to as “the gorge of flowers” since it is blooming with an array of gorgeous plants. Many people visit Tsaghkadzor for its fresh air, which is known to have a countless number of health benefits. Additionally, it has become Armenia’s ski center during the winter months. Kecharis Monastery Complex of 11th century is also located here. It was founded by Pahlavuni princes.
In Tsaghkadzor you will also have a ride on ropeway to admire the whole beauty of the city from above!
